Ms Serena Wilson was appointed as a Deputy Secretary of the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA) in March 2009.
Ms Wilson is the FaHCSIA lead of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) policy development and related work with the Commonwealth and State officials. She is also responsible for strategic policy, the Age Pension, social security relationships and compliance, research and international engagement and disability and carer policy and programs.
Ms Wilson’s career has focussed on social policy including income security, strategic policy and social research, labour market payments policy, income support and services for carers and people with disability, indigenous affairs and health policy. In addition, she has extensive experience in Commonwealth-State relations and budget processes.
Ms Wilson holds a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) with honours from the University of Melbourne.
