As Secretary for the Department of Health and Ageing, Jane Halton is ultimately responsible for the efficient administration of the Department and for the corporate and strategic directions for the Department and portfolio.
She provides the most senior policy council on major and sensitive policy issues to the Ministerial team.
Jane has been a president of the World Health Assembly (2007), Executive Board Member (2003-07) and is currently serving a second term on the Executive Board (2012-). She is also the Chair of the OECD Health Committee (2007-).
She holds the position of Adjunct Professor at the University of Sydney and Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra. She was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2002, and the Centenary Medal in 2003.
